The Monosyllabic Story Writing Prompt

So I saw a prompt that said "write a story using words that only have one syllable." It sounded like a really difficult prompt but I was up for the challenge. So that's how I came up with this.

When Kal turned on the news, all she would want to hear was stuff on the Rogues. They were a group of brave men with masks. And guns. She liked them a lot and thought they were so cool. They took the law in their own hands. They stood up for their rights. At times, they had to fight cops. The news did not say nice things when their name came up. But the truth was, the Rogues were the good ones. Kal was sure of it.

The girls in her class liked film stars. Kal liked the Rogues. At night, she dreamed of them.

When Kal lost her mom and dad to the plague, her home was wrecked by a gang of theives. Kal was forced on the streets. There were a lot of folks like her that year. It was a sad time.

All Kal had left was Hope. And Hope for her was the Rogues. So Kal ran to the woods. She called for them for days. Soon, she thought she would starve. But they found her on a cold night and wrapped her in warm furs.

She told the Rogues she was their fan. They gave her food. They taught her how to shoot a gun.

The Rogues have no boss, no man in charge. That's how they work. But when Kal was out there in the woods with them, she felt like their queen. They served their guests so well.

Kal smiled and laughed as they all took turns and told tales near the camp fire.

She had lost so much. But she found Joy with the Rogues. Now they were her home.
