Before quarantine, I was a huge impulse-buyer of art and craft supplies. The problem with this undisciplined spending habit was that I would end up stocked up on supplies that I never even had time to experiment with because of school and work leaving me with no time.
But now because of quarantine I can actually use those supplies. I can watch art tutorials on YouTube to learn how to use them.
One of the supplies I had stocked up on was embroidery thread. So I started using it.
I made a peacock feather and this character (My Melody from Sanrio)
I then turned to making some designs on greeting cards, like these:
Then I started drawing more. I love using Prismacolor coloured pencils. I'm obsessed with them. They're the best thing ever. I had a lot of Prismacolor packs in my reservoir of art supplies so I got those out and drew these things:
I'm very proud of this peacock drawing!
Next I decided to finally learn a thing or two about digital art. I SUCK at digital art. I dont know how to tell you how terrible I am. I dont have a drawing tablet, so I just use my phone. I decided to go with the Ibis Paint X app. Ibis Paint has very nice tutorials on their website which helped me get started.
Eventually I learned how to actually add some shadows, highlights and shading and made this one, which I'm proud of. I think it may be the best I will get at digital art for some time:
I liked it so much I made it my lock screen wallpaper on my phone.
I also found some thick paper with a nice texture when I was cleaning my room. It was perfect for watercolour. I made this:
wow you did those without a tablet? you got skills girl!
ReplyDeleteYes. I'm hoping to get a tablet soon though :). Thanks for the comment.
