I am obsessed with drawing snek girls

Okay so in Hinduism there is a half-human half-serpent race called Naga which resides in the underworld. Here is what they are supposed to look like:

A female naga is called a nagin. A lot of terrible Bollywood horror movies have nagins in them, for some reason. My general opinion of Bollywood movies is that they suck (at least when it comes to the plot). The costumes, music and set design though? All that is awesome, especially in historical movies.

Anyways, Bollywood horror movies suck. They're not even scary. They're more funny. I am a really easily scared person but I still don't find them scary.

I haven't seen all the nagin horror movies out there, although I hope I can eventually get to all of them. The one I did watch was called "Hisss" and it was released in 2010. It's about an evil British guy who is trying to capture a nagin to force her to grant him immortality. He captures a male cobra to try luring her in, or something like that. I don't remember all the details.

This is objectively a horrible movie. It has a 2.9/10 on IMDb and a 16% on Rotten Tomatoes. But I still loved it because of the snek girl.

Anyways, so I'm NOT a good artist. At all. But I do enjoy drawing. I really liked drawing mermaids but eventually I moved on to drawing nagins. It's kinda the same idea, isn't it? You draw the upper body of a woman and then you give her a fish tail if it's a mermaid or a snek tail if it's a nagin. I make nagins look Indian and mermaids look European, usually.

I want this post to be dedicated to my nagin art but I'll link some of my mermaid drawings on DeviantArt if you're interested. Please do follow my DeviantArt if you use it! Just go to aztecatl13.deviantart.com

And here are links to my mermaid drawings:
  • Mermaid (European)
  • Sedna (Inuit)
  • Candy corn mermaid (a fictional race that has tricoloured hair that's white, orange and yellow like candy corn)
Anyways it's time to talk about my nagin art.

My very first attempt at a nagin, back in 2017:

So at that time I struggled with proportions a lot. However, I do like the eyes and hair here. I think I like how her face is cute but the rest of her looks scary. She has a really menacing curved sword dripping with blood. She also has a snake around her neck that she's wearing like a scarf. I think that was a nice detail, but the colouring was not done well enough for the snek scarf to stand out.

My second attempt at a nagin in 2019 (basically a redraw of the first one)

Alright, the colouring on here is much better and the proportions are better. Maybe not perfect, but I think it's a big improvement from the first one. I like doing this sort of thing a lot as a self-taught artist where I just go back and try redrawing something I made a few years ago. If you want to see more examples of me doing this sort of thing, check out this drawing on DeviantArt and this one as well

Anyways, I do like how this nagin's figure looks and the hair as well, although I think I could have done a better lighting effect on the hair to make it shine more.

Digital nagin (2020)

In 2020, I came back to this drawing and made a digital version of it with the Ibis Paint X app. Now, I'm horrible at digital art. But keep in mind I was only using a tiny phone screen and my finger to draw, so I guess this is decent. I don't have a stylus or drawing tablet.

Yet another digital nagin

The purple-tailed nagin with the ponytail seem to be a different character. Maybe like a sister of the green-tailed nagin. I don't have a paper version of her (except for an uncoloured line drawing), just this digital drawing which I made in the same way as the previous one.

My most recent nagin drawing (2021)

This is my most recent nagin drawing. I brought the green-tailed nagin back. This time she has a flower, not a weapon, and she's resting by a body of water. I went all off with the Prismacolor coloured pencils here and did a lot of shading. I'm really pleased with how this turned out. I watched a bunch of really long Vaush videos while colouring this lmao (I don't like or dislike Vaush. He's a really mediocre political youtuber in my opinion but his videos are just easy to listen to while doing other stuff).

I will definitely continue drawing nagins and posting about them, since I'm kinda obsessed with them. I'm thinking about having three different nagin characters (you've already seen the green-tailed and purple-tailed one) but I'm thinking about also having a red-tailed one and then giving them all signature weapons and different hairstyles. They could be sisters. Then perhaps I could write a story about them, idk. I should refer to the original mythology behind Naga creatures to figure out how that should go.

Anyways, I hope you liked this post.

The Black Hand Fox Webcomic attempt #2

Forgive me, please. I know it's really dumb. For those of you who don't get it, the strategy that the Allies, in particular, the Canadians, used to seize Ortona in Sicily was called "mouseholding". It's supposed to be funny because in the webcomic, a mouse says it. Not laughing? It's okay. I know I suck. It's not even sticking to the original theme of the webcomic, which was supposed to be WW1 not WW2.

The drawing program is excellent, no installations were necessary. You should really check it out: https://sketch.io/sketchpad/

It is almost as good as DeviantArt Muro! Okay but DA muro will always be the best just because it is made by DeviantArt.

So what else is new? Well, I got into Spyglass, which is like a magazine/newspaper/news website thing at my school. I'm probably going to be writing an article about the Dakota Access Pipeline protests. I also really want to make a magazine quiz called "what ancient civilization are you?" which will be like one of those really lame Buzzfeed quizzes like "which flavor of potato chip are you?" but better because it will be about ancient civilizations not potato chips.

That reminds me of this poll that one of my DeviantArt friends made:

What do you think of when someone says potatoes? chips, food, Incas, Ireland, "whats wrong with this question" or "no"?

Here is the DA page of the person: http://bigsleeves-arts.deviantart.com/

Other Random Things

Is this font legible, BTW? I hope it is. I know my blog uses colors and fonts that can be eye-raping at times.

Okay so, do you guys know what MONTH it is? That's right everyone, it's:

Every writer's favourite month is N A N O V E M B E R. Let me explain, every November, there is a a writing contest called "NaNoWriMo". They have a cool crest with a stereotypical historically inaccurate triggering Viking helmet! See?! :

Visit nanowrimo.org to learn more

The rules are that you have to write a minimum of 50,000 words within the month of November. You can upload a cover and write a synopsis and excerpt too. If you get stuck along the way, there is a forum where you can talk to other writers for ideas. If you win you get bragging rights and discounts on a bunch of self publishing and editing softwares.

The last time I entered was in 2013, when I won. Now that I am participating again after 3 years, I feel so nostalgic talking to my old internet friends from 3 years ago including this one girl in the Netherlands who always writes crazily over the minimum 50,000 every year. I think she does like 100,000 words at least or something. The year I won, I wrote 61,000. For reference, 50,000 is around the length of "the Catcher in the Rye". My first published novel, "Misplaced", was 48,000 words.

So you are probably wondering what my story is about, right? Well, it is currently at 42,000 words and is basically in a futuristic setting where indigenous people are trying to overthrow the government! Beware! And they are basically saving the whole world from a sp00ky tyrant who has come into power. I know that is a very vague plot description. If you have a NaNoWriMo account, you can find me. My username is aztecatl13, and you can read my actual plot synopsis and excerpt. I'm too embarrassed to post it here.

Also, if you're reading this, chances are you're one of my internet friends or acquaintances and I've used you as a character in my ginormous cast of characters. I have most likely changed your name out of respect for your privacy. Some of my IRL friends such as Vickyish have also been included. Even if you think I hate you, I've probably still used you as a character, probably as a villain or something. For example, a sp00ky white supremacist once added me to a really sketchy Facebook group where a bunch of racists who fancy themselves "theologians" discuss Catholicism. Many of them seem to be homosexuals in denial as well, because they will condemn gay behavior and call Justin Bieber sexy (even though most of them are men) in the same breath. I have used many of their personalities to inspire the villains in my story. That is the only reason why I let white supremacists stick around for some time before I block them.

Anyway, so when the novel is done I will probably gather up the courage to post the synopsis and everything here and then ask who wants to help proofread the first draft. I'll probably make a public Google Doc and ask my Frypanian fanbase to leave comments on it as they read the unruly manuscript. Perhaps I will illustrate it like I did with my first novel. My art has definitely improved since then, gawd.

Like seriously. This is something I made in 2012. It is a random Mexican thing:

Look how much I improved in just 2 years. This was one of my very first acrylic paintings during my nascent Norse mythology obsession phase. There's a Valkyrie:

Now this is my art in 2016. I made this a few days ago. It a random Hetalia-styled Indian thing:

Please watch me on DeviantArt and I will love you: http://aztecatl13.deviantart.com/

PS: I have joined the slam poetry club at my school, so I will probably be posting some poems or something soon. That is all!

PSS: Legend has it that Tlacaelel Quetzalcoatl from the Mexica Movement has changed the layout of his blog! http://americanlatinomusuemisracist.blogspot.ca/ no more "Dynamic Views" !

Bye, fam!

Just finished watching Axis Powers Hetalia!!

That was the best show I have ever watched in my life.... and the funniest too.

So, Hetalia is an anime (Japanese animation). However, most anime fans consider Hetalia a disgrace to anime. To me however, it is the best anime and the funniest show of all time. Each episode is only 5 minutes long (this includes the ending theme song and credits) and I was so addicted to it that I would watch 10 episodes a day, maybe even more. I watched it in Japanese with English subtitles, because dubs are for noobs.

What it's about

Hetalia is a show where every country is a character. In addition to this, the first two seasons are known as 'axis powers' and are set during WW2, with the three main characters being Italy, Japan, and Germany. Mostly Italy though.... that's why the title of the anime is 'Hetalia' which means 'useless Italy'. So as you can see, this could be taken as an offensive and controversial anime. However, it somehow manages to make a comedy out of the bloodiest war ever. That being said, if you are very patriotic about your country it may offend you. But it isn't meant to be offensive in any way. They make fun of all the countries in the show, allies or axis. They also say positive things about everyone at some point. Also, it's stereotypes not history.... don't watch it for the history, watch it for the comedy.  Most people will tell you to watch the English dub, but remember that the English dub doesn't follow the exact same plot. The American version/English dub is far more racist, less cute, etc. This is why I'd recommend the Japanese version with subtitles. The voice acting is great in both though so you won't miss out if you watch the Japanese version. Also, there is no central plot line. Each episode has a different plot and sometimes they jump into the past or future and don't always stick to the WW2 timeline.

The Fanbase
Hetalia has a huge fanbase on Deviantart. Start here: http://hetalia-union.deviantart.com/

The Characters
Here is what I think about each character.

North Italy is shown as a weakling.

Germany is very manly.

And I ship them so hard.

Japan is very quiet compared to Italy and Germany.

Onto the allies, Murica is very arrogant and I don't like him. He always calls himself a hero but he sucks.

England's eyebrows are very thick and he is usually high on opium.

France is hot. My second favorite character.

China is one of the only female characters.....
And she has a pet panda.

Russia is shown as a silent killer in the show. He seems very innocent but is always plotting to kill someone IDK why they showed him like this.

Canada always has to send aid to the countries that Murica messes up and some countries bother Canada because they mistake him for Murica. However, Canada has a pet polar bear and likes maple syrup.

Central Europe now.... Austria is so classy and is a great musician. Bulgaria is good too.

In the picture above we can see (from left to right) France, Prussia, Spain. Spain ruins it, but France and Prussia are so hawt.

PRUSSIA:

So Hetalia does have some countries in it that do not exist anymore such as the Holy Roman Empire and Prussia.

You will cry and wish that these countries still existed when you watch the anime.

Stuff to hate about Hetalia
This is hard for me to say as I absolutely loved it. But there are some flaws with Hetalia. For example, the majority of the characters are blond. This means the majority of the characters are white. This is a problem. The only African country in it was Egypt. I would've loved to see India or Pakistan in it. Oh, and they didn't have Mexico or any South American country.

HOW COULD THEY NOT HAVE MEXICO?!?!?!? WHY WOULD THEY DO THIS TO ME!??!?!?!?!?!?!??!
However, I've only seen axis powers so far so I guess that's why it wouldn't have been a good idea to include irrelevant countries to the WW2 theme :/

Hopefully Mexico will appear in the world series.

The Seasons

I copied this from the hetalia wiki LOL:

~Season 1~ Axis Powers ( Seasons 1) // Episodes 1-26
~Season 2~ Axis Powers ( Season 2 ) // Episodes 27-52
~Season 3~ World Series ( Seasons 1 ) // Episodes 53-76
~Season 4~ World Series ( Seasons 2 ) // 77-100
~Season 5~ Beautiful World // Episodes 101-120
~Season 6~ World Twinkle // Episodes not confirmed since it hasn't aired
There is also a movie called Paint It White and a webcomic series World Stars
Now go and watch it! The first two seasons are on Youtube.

Valkyrie

Hey, fam!

So while I was cleaning my room, I stumbled across an old painting I made when I was 13 that brought back a lot of nice memories. So I thought, why not post it on my blog and talk about it? I thoguht it was really cute. This was the result of taking a few acrylic painting classes that really helped me to improve my art. If you'd like to check out some of my recent artwork, go to aztecatl13.deviantart.com

To be honest I'm quite proud. It turned out almost exactly the way I wanted it.

I call this 'Valkyrie'.

Ok, so this scene shows a Valkyrie from Norse mythology. The Valkyries were supposed to be beautiful women who rode on horses.  I made her a redhead 'cause redheads are better than blondes lmao. Valkyries were shield maidens (they carried shields and weapons such as spears) 'cause they were warrior women. The duty of a Valkyrie was to find the bodies of warriors who died on the battlefield and take them to Valhalla (the glorious afterlife that was reserved for the heroic dead). So, this picture shows a warrior about to die. Valkyries are lead by the goddess Freyja. ok yeah that's all.

BAI.

Top 10 reasons to join Deviantart

Hey everyone who reads my blog!! This blog post is for people who don't have a Deviantart account. You guys should GET ONE.

Joining Deviantart is free, unless if you want a premium membership.
For those of you who don't know what Deviantart is, it's basically
a website about art. You can see so much art there. Digital art,
traditional art, animations, icons, poetry, photography, basically
everything.

And..... it's among the top 10 social websites:

along with facebook, twitter, google+, linkedin, pinterest, and instagram

So here it is, top 10 reasons to join Deviantart.

1. It's inspiring

art is always inspiring, and deviantart has so many categories to explore. It even has a manga category!! No art website is complete without that: http://www.deviantart.com/manga/

2. There are groups so that you can promote your art to people who are most interested in it

For example, if you like Hetalia, you can join a group like Hetalia union: http://hetalia-union.deviantart.com/

:iconhetalia-union:

Or if you like Mesoamerican history you can join a group like Mesoamerica Arts:  http://mesoamerica-arts.deviantart.com/

:iconmesoamerica-arts:

You can join a group or start one, and post your art in many different categories.

3. You can sell your art for money or Deviantart points

Create your own prints store where people can buy your art. Of course, no one has ever bought my lame art. Especially this one:

Kowlin of the elves origanal by Aztecatl13 (print image)
It's from Kowland. that website that I spent sooooo much time on.... remember?!
Create your own banner at mybannermaker.com! It's a cat and a kow.

anyway, you can also do commissions that you can get Deviantart points with. Deviantart points let you buy art online and have it shipped to your house. This can be done all for free depending on how many points you have. Deviantart points also let you buy awards for artists that you like.

4. You can have a really cool organized gallery

Here's a screenshot from the kowness section of my gallery

ok so I know my gallery sucks but whatever.

5. Stalk as many artists as you want by 'watching' them.

So maybe that sounded really creepy, but here's what it means. You know how on Twitter and Instagram you can 'follow' someone, and on youtube you can 'subscribe' someone, and on google+ you can 'add them to your circles' and on facebook you can 'add them to your interests list'?! Well Deviantart has made it a bit creepier by calling it 'watching someone'. By 'watching' an artist you never miss out on anything they post because it gets sent to you in a Deviantart message. It doesn't spam your e-mail unless you want it to.You can stalk groups this way too. so it's like stalking multiple people at once!!!!

       6. You can write a journal 8-D and read other people's journals and be all stalkerish by commenting every single thing they write.

You can write a group journal with the help of others if you start a group.

7. Read forums
Every good social website needs a forum. Read about dozens of different topics and comment on the forum.

8. Chatrooms
100% safe chatrooms. Don't worry about stalkers unless if I'm online.

9. Play games!!
Well, you have to go to the games category for this and you can play with out an account but you can comment/save the game if you do have an account.

10. Even if you don't make art, joining is still worth it!!

There's something on Deviantart for everyone.

So yes, there you have it, that's why you must join Deviantart!!!!

Well actually I'm only trying to make you join so that I can stalk you on it.

Have a nice day!!!!

Silas Shlomo

THE MEXICA ARE AMAZING
Seriously, I am addicted to them. When ever I see something Mexica, this is what my face looks like:
:iconilavplz:

Hey everyone, so I recently got a Deviantart premium membership and I love it!!I always make a lot of art on DA, but now I've been making more.
One on the best things about having DA premium membership is the custom journal skins.

My journal skin looks like this:
 it's cool, right!?

Anyway, I'd like to talk about a singer named Silas Shlomo. He's really nice.  He's obsessed with Huehueteotl. I made him a stamp on DA to advertise him:

I have so many stamps on my Deviantart profile:

That's just a few of them. Wanna see them all?! Aztecatl13.deviantart.com ;-)

Back to Silas Shlomo....
Here is one of videos. It's Young girls by Bruno Mars :D
