Satan from Paradise Lost is kind of like a wolverine (hear me out)

Yer girl is back with another informal post on a serious topic, kinda like that post I made about Utopia by Thomas More or about All About Love by bell hooks and Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer (yes I talked about bell hooks and Kimmerer in the same post even tho most people would tell you that they talk about very different things. I actually think the points they make about greed are quite similar).

Anyway, today's topic is on "Wolverine thinking" (a term I coined) and Paradise Lost

Let me begin by explaining what "Wolverine thinking" is, since it is a term I coined after reading a retelling of an Ojibwe legend by Basil Johnston

When I read Ojibway Heritage (1976) by Basil Johnston, I was fascinated by the story of the wolverine in the chapter called "The Nature of Animals." Johnston explains how the Great Spirit (or Great Mystery, as he translates it) named Kitche Manitou gave gifts to every creature. For example, the eagle received strong wings and keen sight. The deer received grace. The hummingbird was given the power of hovering, and so on. However, the wolverine was unsatisfied with these gifts.

The wolverine was basically an incel who thinks the reason why he is an incel is because he's short. You see, an incel believes he has been somehow cursed to be genetically inferior and that there is nothing he can do about it even though he can just touch grass and work on his personality. He doesn't know how to be grateful for what he has and make the most of his natural gifts the way everyone else does. Here is a quote from page 52-53. I wanted to directly quote this. Because Johnston writes so beautifully, I didn't want to ruin y'alls's experience of this story by paraphrasing it:

Only the wolverine was discontented. When he saw the extent of the gifts of the other animals, he grew envious. Soon he wanted the strength and the size of a bear, the elegance of deer, and the swiftness of the fox. In his increasing disappointment, the wolverine began to despise himself and his gifts and feel bitter at Kitche Manitou. At length, he resolved to return to the mountain top and ask the Master of Life for greater and better gifts. When the wolverine attained the crest, he boldly called out, “Kitche Manitou! Hear me! You have not been just to me. You have not been just to all the animals. To some you have given greater scope and a greater measure of gifts. By this uneven distribution you have made some great and some less.” More audacious, the wolverine continued, “I demand that you redress this great wrong. For myself, I wish more strength, more comeliness, more speed.” But Kitche Manitou’s thunderous voice broke through the selfish list of wolverine. “To each animal being I have given sufficient power for the fulfilment of his being and form. The power I have conferred on each is a form of my power, and is a reflection of my gifts. “No injustice has been done. If you have not developed and fostered the gifts I have presented to you, it is you who have perpetrated an injustice upon yourself. You have betrayed yourself. “For your presumption, you shall wander alone and despised. And for your refusal to develop your attributes you will, henceforth, feed upon what has been left over by your fellow creatures who have nurtured their talents. Go!” Wolverine left the mountain top more bitter and envious than before. He had not been daunted by Kitche Manitou himself! As Kitche Manitou ordained, so the wolverine became solitary, vicious, and avoided. Hungry ever, he must feed upon the portions left by other animals.
Johnston, Basil. Ojibway Heritage, UNP - Bison Books, 1990. ProQuest Ebook Central, http://ebookcentral.proquest.com/lib/oxford/detail.action?docID=1682898.
Created from oxford on 2025-09-10 20:33:36.

So for his ingratitude, the wolverine is cast into isolation by Kitche Manitou. And honestly, the wolverine deserved this.

What is "wolverine thinking"? I would say it is constant emptiness like the insatiable hunger of a wolverine that one tries to fill with a greed for material wealth or possessions (Milton certainly condemns greed in Paradise Lost), and constant ingratitude or grumbling at one's circumstances in life, believing that one got the short end of the stick. I think it causes one to suffer when it comes to interpersonal relationships, and also causes one not to take advantage of certain opportunities when they come their way.

In Book 4 lines 46-48 of Paradise Lost, Satan admits he did not show gratitude to the one who had created him:

What could be less then to afford him praise,
The easiest recompence, and pay him thanks,
How due! yet all his good prov'd ill in me,
The wolverine is bitter, envious, and feels painfully lonely. Note Satan's similar feelings when he is jealous of the closeness of Adam and Eve. This is from Book 4, lines 505-511:

Sight hateful, sight tormenting! thus these two
Imparadis't in one anothers arms
The happier Eden, shall enjoy thir fill
Of bliss on bliss, while I to Hell am thrust,
Where neither joy nor love, but fierce desire,
Among our other torments not the least,
Still unfulfill'd with pain of longing pines;
At other times, Satan feels so empty that he is described almost as the anthropomorphized form of Hell. Line 20 in Book 4 is "the Hell within him, for within him Hell."

Anyway, I thought this was bonkers. So I wanted to share this stuff with you. Let me know if you have a different take either on the wolverine story or on Paradise Lost

If you would like to read another post I wrote on wolverines, here it is: https://freyathefrypan.blogspot.com/2024/12/wolverines-are-most-relatable-animal.html

These creatures are one of my autistic hyperfixations.

why I study the ojibwe language

Aaniin kina wiya! Today I'm going to talk a bit about Anishinaabemowin, or the Ojibwe language. I am a non-Indigenous student of Anishinaabemowin. Sometimes, people are interested in knowing why I like learning this language so much. It is very challenging to learn, so part of it is for the thrill of the intellectual challenge. But there are also some things about Anishinaabemowin that I consider to be very beautiful and that reminds me of Ojibwe culture and their worldview.

Anishinaabemowin has a very interesting grammatical structure. You see, most Indigenous languages of North America are considered polysynthetic. This means that they have a high number of morphemes per word. A morpheme is the smallest unit in a language that holds meaning. The English word "cats" has two morphemes, the noun "cat" and the "s" which is a plural ending.

In Anishinaabemowin, there are a lot of very long words that are dense with morphemes. It feels like every syllable holds so much meaning.

There's an example I can give of this that comes from "The Seven Generations and Seven Grandfather Teachings" by James Vukelich. Vukelich talks about the Anishinaabemowin word "indaanikoobijigan." This usually means "my ancestor" but it can also mean my grandparent, my great grandparent, my grandchild, my great grandchild or my descendant. To understand "indaanikoobjigan" better, Vukelich mentions the "aanik" morpheme, which also appears in words like:

aanikoobidoon (string it together, tie it)

aanikegamaa (chain of lakes)

aanikanootamaw (translate it for her)

aanik-ogimaa (someone who fulfills the role of a chief if the current one can no longer do so. "ogimaa" is chief)

Vukelich concludes that aanik indicates something linked in a process or working in a chain, and so "indaanikoobijigan" is like "one to whom I am inextricably linked"

His book has other examples of Anishinaabemowin morphemes as well. Being aware of the structure of Anishinaabemowin words just makes it seem like a poetic language, extremely rich in meaning with tons of potential for metaphors.

I'll do some more Ojibweposting later. Giga-waabamin miinawaa!!

My thoughts on the Brazil museum fire

For those of you who haven't heard the outrageous news, the National Museum of Brazil suffered a tragic loss of thousands of artifacts recently in a devastating fire. This was because the museum hadn't been renovated for many years, as Brazil's government would rather spend money on building museums. It was the largest collection of historical artifacts in South America, and even housed the bones of Luzia (a skeleton that is suspected to to be Pre-Clovis, although they haven't been able to carbon date her properly). Indigenous people especially lamented the loss, as it was a huge destruction of their history, almost as if they were witnessing the European invasion happening all over again. The entire linguistic section of the museum was also lost, meaning that many of Brazil's threatened indigenous languages which had been preserved in recordings may never be heard again. I wish more people would care. It's a shame that Brazil doesn't have enough wealth and technology to at least back up everything on the museum in a digital archive. I've been to the British Museum, the most glorious museum in the world thanks to the fact that the British looted art from all over their colonies. Even though it was really sad for me to see artifacts that had been stolen from India put on display there, I still think it's better to not return them to India just yet, because as sad as it is, developed countries in the first world are just better equipped to preserve the artifacts and take care of them than third world countries are. I hope what happened in Brazil never happens again anywhere.

The Aztec Emperor's Axolotl: A Short Story

The axolotl never failed to amaze Ce. He would often converse with the strange salamander-like creature from the swamps of Mexico for hours at a time. As it swam around in its tank, it seemed to have the enlightened expression of a wise, ancient sage. Ce observed it as it swam among the new aquarium decorations he bought, which were miniature Mexican pyramids.

“Do you like your new aquarium decorations, Cipactli? The one you’re investigating right now is supposed to look like the pyramid of Cholula. It has the greatest volume of any pyramid in the world” Ce told the creature.
The axolotl turned from its inspection of the ruin to face Ce. It seemed to give an enigmatic smile.
Ce sighed. “It’s really sad how the Spaniards built a church on top of it. Maybe I can get rid of the church when I’m crowned as huey tlatoani of All the Land Between the Waters today. Or maybe I should keep it as a holocaust museum to inform outsiders of what happened to our people. What do you think, Cipactli?”
Of course, the axolotl had no way of answering. The red fringes around its face fluttered as a guest made his way into Ce’s room.
“Ce! There you are! Stop talking to that creature and get ready. You’ll be late for the coronation ceremony. People are coming from all over the Land of the Eagle and the Land of the Condor.”
It was the silver-haired elder, Amoxtli. In his arms, the short man clutched several pages that had been folded up accordion style as well as vials of black and red ink to document the details of the upcoming event.
“This indolence can not be tolerated of an emperor! You know that, Ce.”
“I’ll be there in a second, Amoxtli. I just have to feed Cipactli an earthworm.” Ce said. As he opened the can of worms, the axolotl seemed to sense that it was feeding time. It joyfully darted to the surface.
Ce donned a majestic azure cloak with a crimson trim before he departed. It was decorated in parrot feathers and swept the ground. It matched the colour of his long, embroidered loincloth. He had a look at himself in his obsidian mirror and was pleased to see that his jade earrings looked magnificent. His colourful finery stood out on his cacao-coloured skin, and his long, glossy black hair was embellished with a turquoise pin in the shape of a two-headed serpent.
“Alright, I definitely look regal enough” he decided before setting out for the throne room of the palace of New Tenochtitlan, formerly Mexico City.
Amoxtli was already there, addressing an eclectic crowd made up of various indigenous groups. Even at his ancient age, he remained a charismatic orator.
“My people, we will rise again like a phoenix reborn from ashes! Our centuries of oppression under a foreign regime have come to an end. Emperor Ce will work tirelessly to restore order as he rules over All the Land between the Waters, the two subcontinents of the Western Hemisphere!”
A grand applause rose up from the crowd. Delegates had traveled from every corner of the land expecting Ce to extinguish their worries and to usher them into a Golden Age. They represented the various indigenous people of Ce’s dominion, from tiny nomadic tribes like the Guna people from the Amazon rainforest to the descendents of empires and nation-states such as the Aztecs, Mayans, Incas, and the mound-building cultures from along the Mississippi River. Everyone hoped their leader would bring them glory and spearhead the nation to the zenith of its influence. Ce could see all these expectations plainly on the faces of the diverse crowd. Everyone wore the same serious countenance, for although they all held the same unabashed adoration for Amoxtli the Elder, they let Ce know that even though he had been chosen he had yet to prove himself.
Ce twitched nervously on the dais as he stood in front of his people. He felt butterflies in his stomach like the restless souls of his dead warrior ancestors. He began to present his carefully rehearsed speech.
“My people,” he began his address, “allow me to elaborate on the greatness of our ancient civilizations and how far we’ve come since then. Our ancestors built great cities, like Tenochtitlan with all its canals and causeways, pyramids, palaces, and observatories. It was an island city in the middle of a glistening, blue lake and was the inspiration for this new city we are standing in right now, New Tenochtitlan.” It was the usual theme of many public speeches in the land, and no one in the room was surprised by it. Indeed, they had all heard similar descriptions so many times before that it wasn’t very hard for them to imagine the ancient cities he spoke of. “Or like Qosqo, a city built high in the Andes mountains, laid out in the shape of a crouching Mountain Lion and filled with gold-encrusted temples and palaces with jeweled walls. It had fine fortresses with impressive stonework and green terraces for farming and herding woolly llamas and alpacas.”
He scanned the crowd for reactions and noticed that a high-cheek boned, queen-like woman from Qosqo smiled proudly. Her piercing obsidian eyes were bright and fierce. Ce observed that she wore a necklace with a chakana pendant. It was an ancient Inca symbol and everyone know that she was the descendant of a powerful people. She carried the rainbow banner of Qosqo and looked like some kind of goddess-like apparition.
Ce could hear cheers rise up all around the hall, including from the woman who had caught his eye. Everyone drank in the flowery words of the glorious, eloquent speech. The Elder Amoxtli looked up from his writing and smiled. It was time for him to present Ce with a headdress of quetzal plumes. Great elation stirred in the room.
Some of the last delegates that had arrived from the furthest regions of the empire now started to settle in. They brought their heraldry with them. Ce caught a glimpse of the purple flag of the Iroquois confederacy. Some of the very last people to arrive were from Nunavut, carrying flags baring its red inuksuk symbol. It was part of the Inuit’s vast Arctic homeland, the northernmost part of the new nation. Ce heard the stomping of large boots and knew it meant that the Aónikenk people had arrived from their even colder homelands in Patagonia, near in proximity to Antarctica. They were greeted warmly by the Inuit.
“I see some more people have arrived. Welcome, brothers and sisters!”
The Inuit and Patagonian groups were the last ones to arrive since they had to come to Ce’s capital of New Tenochtitlan from so far away, but their presence was of great symbolic importance, showing that the new confederacy of indigenous nations was united from north to south, from the Land of the Eagle to the Land of the Condor.
The Elder finally crowned Ce with the feathered headdress. Ce felt powerful knowing that the feathers towered above him and made him look tall and formidable. He was handed a golden chalice by Amoxtli. It had been carved with a design of two birds, the mighty eagle of the North and the condor of the South, the emblem of the new nation.
“When you indulge in the luxurious chocolate elixir that I have had handed you in that chalice and then proceed to sit on your extravagant throne, don’t be fooled. Beware! It will seem like the most comfortable chair in the world at first, but it is really a seat of pain. You were chosen by the people because they thought you would be strong enough to endure struggle throughout your reign.” The Elder declared.
Ce drank deeply from the golden chalice, taking care not to spill a drop of the frothy chocolate drink. It was sweet at first, but the aftertaste was bitter. Then Ce felt a burning sensation in his mouth, because it just wouldn’t be complete without added chilies and allspice. Every ingredient had been a metaphor, of course. Ce had to be careful not to let the childish thrill of being huey tlatoani consume him, just like he couldn’t expect the chocolate drink to be sugary and sweet throughout.
He could become corrupted with his power, and his subjects could end up feeling bitter towards him. Even though the Land of the Eagle and Condor had survived many hardships, it still had many dangerous and powerful enemies all over the world, but mostly in Europa and even some within its own borders.
Ce could never be sure of making it through the next day alive, as someone could easily slip poison into his food, as unexpected as chilies in a chocolate drink. It had happened to Tizoc, an ancient ruler of the old Tenochtitlan, so perhaps it could someday happen to a ruler of the new. His people would have no use for a dead huey tlatoani.
Ce’s paranoid thoughts were interrupted by the Elder declaring that a feast would commence in honor of the coronation. It was the most lavish and beautiful feast that you ever would have seen, and it was a miracle that such a young nation was able to provide so much food to its citizens. Almost every dish had used one of the Three Sisters or a healthy ancient grain like quinoa. There were smoked tamales and stuffed turkeys, slabs of pemmican with fresh Saskatoon berries, Navajo tacos on loaves of fry bread, pozole soup served in gourd bowls, duck nuggets, wild rice, and rabbit stew.
For dessert, the Inuit had brought something they called ice cream, or akutaq. They offered it to the huey tlatoani.
“I’m sorry but I don’t think I can have that. I’m lactose intolerant.” Ce said.
“Do not worry, Revered Speaker,” an old Inuk said, with wrinkly skin much paler than Ce’s. He had long, straight hair the colour of dark chocolate, and laugh lines around his small, brown eyes with epicanthal folds that had evolved to guard against the cold, icy wind of his homeland. Ce recognized him as the man who had brought in the red inuksuk banner of Nunavut, and learned that he was named Atka after the midnight sun.
“Our akutaq just has caribou fat, cloudberries, seal oil and some tundra greens, all mixed in with snows from our Arctic homeland. None of it contains the white man’s dairy products.” He chuckled.
Ce smiled and tried some of the strange concoction, knowing that it would be rude if he didn’t and he didn’t have his lactose intolerance an excuse anymore.
As the feast progressed, Ce took some more time to make speeches.
“All of you have democratically elected delegates to represent you. These delegates will travel back to their sub-nations once the festivities that have commenced my reign have ended. I believe this system shall work to make sure all of the diverse cultures of this land are represented in some form or another. ”
Ce Tepuzmachiyopilcac ended up being the only one who dared to try the Inuit ice cream that night, along with the Inuit themselves and their new friends the Aónikenk of Patagonia, who thought the dish was a genius invention and wondered if penguin fat would work just as well as caribou.
The dessert for everyone else was squash smoothies with chia seeds, maple syrup candies, and of course liquid chocolate. Oceans of it.
“As our beloved elder has suggested, I’m also going to appoint two people who will help me rule and keep my power in check. One of these viziers will be from the Land of the Eagle, while the other will be from the Land of the Condor. But don’t worry, this won’t be some kind of dictatorial triumvirate.”
“Anything’s better than the white man’s way” Atka grumbled.
“You all have the right to rebel, for it is not the people who must fear their emperor but the emperor who must fear his people.”
And so the feasting and merriment continued throughout the evening, signalling the dawning of a new age for the people of All the Land between the Waters. In time Ce would learn that the revolution had been the easy part.

Indigenous Peoples' day, Leif Ericson day, Canadian Thanksgiving, and Columbus day

Since we have four holidays today that are somewhat related to one another, I'm going to briefly talk about what I think of them. Lets start with the one I like the most.

Happy Indigenous Peoples' Day! (which should really be EVERY DAY :D )

October 9th is Indigenous People's Day. It's recognized by a lot of American cities. In Canada, National Aboriginal Day is on June 21st in the whole country. This year, Los Angeles will be celebrating Indigenous Peoples' Day for the first time. Guess which organization that I'm obsessed with has been protesting in LA for years to make that happen.

Leif Ericson Day
His name is spelled in a variety of ways. "Leifr Aeirikson" is probably the most accurate spelling but that's so extra. This Viking explorer established a settlement in northern Newfoundland 500 years before Columbus without committing mass genocide. I've always wanted to visit L'Anse aux meadows (the name of the ruins of the Viking settlement, which used to be known as Vinland). There is a very good chance he probably did kill some indigenous people, although there is no way of knowing for sure as the Norse sagas that have information on this were written way after the actual event happened. Please check out my blog post on the history of Norse exploration in the Americas (I know a lot about it. Trust me. Plus it's a super interesting topic. http://freyathefrypan.blogspot.ca/2016/01/the-norse-exploration-of-north-america-d.html .

Thanksgiving (in Canada. Americans celebrate it in some really weird time in November or something?)
Now we're in the territory of holidays that I really don't like. It's important to remember however that Canadian thanksgiving is related to the traditional European harvest festivals. American thanksgiving is all about the pilgrims raiding and destroying a Pequot village, which led to the governor of Bay Colony creating the Thanksgiving holiday, you can read more about it here: https://www.huffingtonpost.com/nicole-breedlove/thanksgiving-pequot-massacre_b_4337722.html

Columbus day
eew. Where to begin? First of all, EVEN MANY EUROPEANS IN COLUMBUS' TIME THOUGHT COLUMBUS WAS BAD. He was a mass murderer and sold children into sex slavery. EVERYONE KNOWS THAT'S BAD. Don't be stupid and say "we can't judge historical figures by modern standards" HE WAS THROWN IN JAIL BY THE KING OF SPAIN FOR USING BARBARIC ACTS OF TORTURE. He had no accomplishments worth celebrating anyway because Leif Ericson sailed to the Americas 500 years BEFORE Columbus without committing mass genocide. I still can't believe people celebrate this.

Welp yeah that's all for today's rant.

An Ancient village in British Columbia is older than Egypt's pyramids

It's quite well known that indigenous people have lived in the Americas for a super long time, but how long exactly? Archaeologists believed it was for around 12,000 years, but now they've discovered the ruins of an ancient settlement on Triquet island, northwest of Victoria, British Columbia which is 14,000 years old. They have unearthed lots of Ice Age weapons, fish hooks, etc. You can read more here: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/14000-village-discovered-triquet-island-british-columbia-canada-oldest-settlment-north-america-a7673726.html This is why indigenous people have every right to be outraged when they have to negotiate land rights with European settlers, who've only been here for a few centuries. Indigenous people have been here for longer than we've thought. Britain has only been occupied by people for 12,000 years. This discovery proves that indigenous people have been in the Americas for longer. Australian aboriginals have also been in Australia for longer than people have been in Britain, making them the oldest continuous culture on earth. Welp. That's all I have to say. Have a gr8 day everyone.

Shitpost #139183842492992939339484024949

What is a shitpost? What is the art of shitposting? Lets look to Urban Dictionary and other sources to clarify the meaning of this fascinating word!

Shitpost v. {verb forms: -ed -ing -s} (ʃɪtpóst) 1. To make utterly worthless and inane posts on the internet. n. 2. An utterly worthless text post, image, or video on social media and blogs. Usage: "Everything on Frypania is a shitpost!"
Etymology/Origin: From Middle English shiten and Old High German skizan (modern German: scheissen) and Latin postis.

^ English is my second favourite subject after history TBH. I'll also add this to the Frypanese-English dictionary page.

Here are some more examples of shitposts. These are my tweets, in case you needed to see more after reading this blog:

OKAY TBH I'M JUST REALLY SALTY BECAUSE ONE OF MY FRIENDS UNFOLLOWED THIS BLOG :'( R.I.P. I GUESS HE COULDN'T HANDLE THE SHITPOSTS. WHAT, DOES HE THINK HE CAN WRITE SOMETHING THAT ISN'T A SHITPOST?

nowww whatt?!?!??!?!?1?!!

I guess I could tell you about what I did a few weeks ago to morally support indigenous people living in Attawapiskat. I sent them a 5-paged letter with fanart. If I get a reply I'll post a word document with the original letter and reply. I typed the letter before I wrote the handwritten one, so that I could remember what I wrote to them. I also scanned the fanart, so I'll post it here l8r.

Also, you all should check out this cool app + website thingy called Habitica which increases your productivity. You can add me on that site as well. My username is aztecatl13. Basically, you get rewards such as pets and armor for your character in the game for doing your homework and other things. You lose coins and health if you do bad habits. It's an addictive concept and saved my grades this semester. It motivates me to maintain my Facebook hiatus, which has lasted for 5 days now. My record has been one month of no Facebook. Lets see if I can beat that? My record for no computer/internet/devices use has only been like 2 weeks or something though. That was when I went to India and didn't have internet access for some time. I still had a computer for typing shitfictions (very lame stories) on but I wasn't tempted because India is 2 gr8 2 stay inside on a computer all day like I do in Kanata.

Anything else? oh yeah, I got Spotify, not to listen to degenerate American pop or anything stupid like that but to listen to other things. The options are still very limited though. I still prefer making a youtube playlist of national anthems of various countries and listening to that instead, but I like how Spotify has the lyrics provided for most songs and stuff. Currently I am obsessed with a song called "all'armi" which was the anthem of fascist Italy (I'M NOT EVIL THOUGH. I JUST LIKE HOW IT SOUNDS. BETTER THAN MODERN MUSIC IS ALL I AM SAYING....) Mio dio though, I have that song on loop right now. I HATE HOW THE ITALIAN FLAG USED TO LOOK LIKE THE MODERN MEXICAN FLAG WWWTTTFFF:

Italians also used to use this flag:

Image result for flag of italy during ww2

MEXICO IS A WAYYY BETTER COUNTRY THAN ITALY. IT SHOULD REALLY CHANGE ITS FLAG SO THAT IT CAN BE LESS SIMILAR LOOKING TO ITALY'S :'((((( .

So those are some updates about mein life. Sorry that I don't have anything very interesting to share.

Alternate History Hub: What if the Americas Never Existed?

So I found a Youtube channel recently called Alternate History Hub and I'm obsessed with their videos, especially this one. Give it a watch, fam! The topic of this one is "what if the Americas Never Existed?" (then ¿what would I do with my life? I wouldn't have anyone to obsess over. I wouldn't even be able to eat chocolate.)

Another great video by the same person who made this one is called "What if Africa was Never colonized?" and that video is very interesting too so I suggest you watch it too by clicking this link.

Even though the Americas and their history are my life (true story), I agree that there would be a positive and negative effect of them not existing.

While brainstorming this list I realized that the negatives and positives of the Americas not existing are similar to the negatives and positives of Europe never colonizing the world (because it wouldn't be possible for them to colonize the world without first starting with the Americas.)

Negative effects:

  • We'd be less technologically advanced if an entire culture which made so much scientific progress was taken away. The ideas of the Aztecs, Mayans, and Incas were taken by Europeans and spread to other continents. If this never had never happened, inventions like computers, phones, etc. would appear much later as these were created by Europeans using things they had learned from other cultures.
  • Certain crops such as potatoes, corn, quinoa, tomatoes, coffee, chocolate, pumpkins would not exist. Now this is important because POTATOES WERE VERY IMPORTANT TO EUROPEAN COUNTRIES WHO COULD NOT FEED THEMSELVES ;_; also corn is probably one of the most important crops in the world, not just because it is the staple diet of many people but because its in everything. Many every day products such as gypsum dry wall, toothpaste, paint, diapers, dog food, makeup, and hand soap are made with corn. Weird processed ingredients that you find in unhealthy processed scary diabetes-causing food also contains corn sweeteners, corn preservatives, and other strange substances. You can thank indigenous Mexicans for genetically modifying a type of grass to create corn.
  • It would take a much longer time for Europe to get out of the Dark Ages. The Dark Ages were a time after the fall of the Roman empire. During the Medieval times/dark ages, Europe had almost no technological advancements because of, you guessed it, isolation. The Renaissance would've happened much later for Europe if this alternate-history video were reality, so Europe would be behind the rest of the world. But so would Australia and Sub-Saharan Africa because they relied on European discoveries to help them advance. Some continents however (not Europe) can do just fine while being isolated such as the Americas, Asia, and North Africa. The Americas would obviously be much better off with no biological warfare spread by Europeans! But would Europe be better off without the Americas? Absolutely not! Where would they get the gold and silver to trade for slaves from Africa and silk from China in order to become rich? and most importantly, where would they get super important crops like corn?
  • No chocolate. That would be awful.
  • No one to stalk.
  • NO CURE FOR SCURVY D: (but at least Jacques Cartier could die from it then.)
  • "less filthy heathens to convert to Christianity." ~ a Jesuit missionary
  • People will hate me for saying this but sub-Saharan Africa would not benefit at all if the Americas didn't exist, because Africans relied on Europeans for many things (and the Europeans relied on the Americas for many things.)
  • As for Australia, it depends on how you approach the situation. On the bright side, at least 99% of the indigenous population wouldn't be wiped out. On the negative side, no computers until a much later date.
  • Perhaps the economies of some Asian countries would suffer, because less trade partners (Europeans would be too dirt poor to trade with them.)
  • There would be a higher need for slave labor, so slavery would not go away.
Positive effects:
  • No European colonialism! yaaay!!!!
  • A greater understanding would probably arise between different cultures.
  • Asia would become the most technologically advanced continent.
  • 99% of Australia's indigenous population wouldn't get wiped out.
  • Slavery would still exist, perhaps even in a higher scale, but it'd be internal. I mean that a race wouldn't exclusively own slaves of another race. Slave masters would have slaves the same race as them.
Well that was the most controversial thing I ever wrote. What do you think?

I bet this post made people of all races hate me.
