Look who's back, it's the best shitposter ever! You missed me, didn't you? Tyrian Purple is a beautiful colour. 

Aite, first of all, this blog has had some dank updates to the layout. I will go over them now. 

 New default font set! I thought this font set looked cute. Let me know if you think it isn't legible enough though. 

 Search bar moved to side of page instead of top top avoid clutter and to draw attention to the controversial new header. 

 Removal of the tiled frypan background, which has been on this blog since like forever, but some feedback from Aspen, who despises tiled images, and my boredom of it, caused me to change it. See the decorated frying pans in this picture? They were the background before. I may bring them back if I can't find a better image. For now, enjoy the green.  Personally, I want to add a cool Mexica/Aztec-looking background such as the one Zoe Saadia uses on her author site. Read her books! She is the best historical fiction writer ever, hands down. She's better than Gary Jennings! Anyway, I haven't been able to find a good enough image yet, but I want something like this. If we're going to go with another frying pan background, then something related to this frying pan-like object would be cool. My favicon would also make a good tiled background, but I am bored of tiled backgrounds now. A blog that uses tiled background's well is, A Lonely Potato. Those cacti are cute. I love cacti. 

 At the very bottom of the blog, I have inserted a tag-cloud. Tag-clouds help me to consider which topics I have written a lot about, and which topics I should cover more. Certain keywords, such as "Mexica" pertain to the originally decided theme of this blog, and so I will be able to see if I am diverting too far from that theme.

OKAy can I just say that this is the BesT Hetalia video that I have EVEr SeeN?! The art is majestic...The effects and transitions are so on point and epic.The song is a bit controversial though but I love the lyrics. I just hope the singer isn't as anti-Islamic as it seems. The ending was like "Leningrad, Berlin wall, *insert several other events in European history*...... Drop the bomb end this war" I just didn't like that because it was making it sound like violence is a bad thing but then the end lyrics kind of encourage you to use violence. I didn't really like the "Omg ENd the New Caliphate WHOEVEr WiNs WiLL rule for the next 1000 yearS" feels. If it really had to mention religion it should've talked about Norse paganism or something. Goddamn Europeans can't even get along among themselves. Always fighting with each other.More AMVs are needed like this for other/better continents. 

Alternate History Hub: What if the Americas Never Existed?

So I found a Youtube channel recently called Alternate History Hub and I'm obsessed with their videos, especially this one. Give it a watch, fam! The topic of this one is "what if the Americas Never Existed?" (then ¿what would I do with my life? I wouldn't have anyone to obsess over. I wouldn't even be able to eat chocolate.)

Another great video by the same person who made this one is called "What if Africa was Never colonized?" and that video is very interesting too so I suggest you watch it too by clicking this link.

Even though the Americas and their history are my life (true story), I agree that there would be a positive and negative effect of them not existing. 

While brainstorming this list I realized that the negatives and positives of the Americas not existing are similar to the negatives and positives of Europe never colonizing the world (because it wouldn't be possible for them to colonize the world without first starting with the Americas.)

Negative effects: 

• We'd be less technologically advanced if an entire culture which made so much scientific progress was taken away. The ideas of the Aztecs, Mayans, and Incas were taken by Europeans and spread to other continents. If this never had never happened, inventions like computers, phones, etc. would appear much later as these were created by Europeans using things they had learned from other cultures. 
• Certain crops such as potatoes, corn, quinoa, tomatoes, coffee, chocolate, pumpkins would not exist. Now this is important because POTATOES WERE VERY IMPORTANT TO EUROPEAN COUNTRIES WHO COULD NOT FEED THEMSELVES ;_; also corn is probably one of the most important crops in the world, not just because it is the staple diet of many people but because its in everything. Many every day products such as gypsum dry wall, toothpaste, paint, diapers, dog food, makeup, and hand soap are made with corn. Weird processed ingredients that you find in unhealthy processed scary diabetes-causing food also contains corn sweeteners, corn preservatives, and other strange substances. You can thank indigenous Mexicans for genetically modifying a type of grass to create corn. 
• It would take a much longer time for Europe to get out of the Dark Ages. The Dark Ages were a time after the fall of the Roman empire. During the Medieval times/dark ages, Europe had almost no technological advancements because of, you guessed it, isolation. The Renaissance would've happened much later for Europe if this alternate-history video were reality, so Europe would be behind the rest of the world. But so would Australia and Sub-Saharan Africa because they relied on European discoveries to help them advance. Some continents however (not Europe) can do just fine while being isolated such as the Americas, Asia, and North Africa. The Americas would obviously be much better off with no biological warfare spread by Europeans! But would Europe be better off without the Americas? Absolutely not! Where would they get the gold and silver to trade for slaves from Africa and silk from China in order to become rich? and most importantly, where would they get super important crops like corn?
• No chocolate. That would be awful.
• No one to stalk.
• NO CURE FOR SCURVY D: (but at least Jacques Cartier could die from it then.) 
• "less filthy heathens to convert to Christianity." ~ a Jesuit missionary
• People will hate me for saying this but sub-Saharan Africa would not benefit at all if the Americas didn't exist, because Africans relied on Europeans for many things (and the Europeans relied on the Americas for many things.)
• As for Australia, it depends on how you approach the situation. On the bright side, at least 99% of the indigenous population wouldn't be wiped out. On the negative side, no computers until a much later date.
• Perhaps the economies of some Asian countries would suffer, because less trade partners (Europeans would be too dirt poor to trade with them.)
• There would be a higher need for slave labor, so slavery would not go away. 

Positive effects:

• No European colonialism! yaaay!!!! 
• A greater understanding would probably arise between different cultures. 
• Asia would become the most technologically advanced continent. 
• 99% of Australia's indigenous population wouldn't get wiped out.
• Slavery would still exist, perhaps even in a higher scale, but it'd be internal. I mean that a race wouldn't exclusively own slaves of another race. Slave masters would have slaves the same race as them.

Well that was the most controversial thing I ever wrote. What do you think?

Herr Mannelig

This is a very, very old Swedish song about a mountain troll who wants to marry a knight named Mannelig but then gets REJECTED. It's not from the Viking age though.... I think it's medieval. I don't even know. I just thought this was interesting so I posted it.... Lol. 


The language is not modern Swedish, it's OLDER Swedish X-D  I don't know much about this song though, but you should listen to it. It's good. The singer has a nice voice and this video has the english translation on screen for us noobs who 'can't Swedish'. 


Plus, it tells a story..... a good one. In the Icelandic version of the story, the troll stabs the knight after he rejects her. The Swedish version doesn't have any stabbing though, the troll just leaves in this song.

Istanbul (Not Constantinople)

(which is now one of my favourite bands). 

This song is about Istanbul/Stamboul/Konstantinoúpoli/Constantinople/Byzantium/you get the idea there are a lot of names for this city.

Angelique & the Burning of Montreal 



So what do you see in this painting?! You'll notice the girl and the fire and the background. The girl's name is Marie Joseph Angelique. She was a black slave in Montreal, Canada. She was born in Portugal and her mistress wanted to send her to the West Indies. She often menaced her mistress and was known to be rude and outspoken. It is said that she loved a man named Claude Thibault (a white man), who later ditched her.

Now you're probably wondering about that terrible fire. Many people think that Angelique set the fire. There were so many fires in both Montreal and Quebec city that this case is usually considered very insignificant, even though it burned down a hospital and 45 houses. Most historians simply accept the fact that the court found Angelique guilty. They had her hanged and her body was burned.

However, as people who studied New France became more interested in the daily life of its residents, Angelique got more attention because she was a woman and because she was black. New France was usually thought of as a homogeneous society, but when we explore the case of Angelique, there seems to be a tension among the society.

On the eve of the fire, Angelique was with a girl named Marie. She was a slave girl too, an aboriginal one. Angelique said "My mistress and the city will not sleep in their homes." Or at least that's what Marie claimed Angelique said, who later filed as a witness to Angelique's crime.

During the fire, many people escaped and took refuge in a garden near the hospital. Angelique was sleeping there with some knives, scissors, and belongings that she managed to save from the fire. While she slept, a public rumor was going around town saying that Angelique had set the fire.

So she was rudely awakened and arrested based on the public rumor. However, no one could find enough evidence that she actually set the fire. None of the witnesses, including Marie, had claimed to actually see her start the fire.

The court was about to let her go free when a 5-year-old child was brought fourth. The little girl claimed that she had seen Angelique set the fire.

This was enough for the court to execute Angelique. (How could they believe a child though?!) O.o

Before she was hanged and her body was burnt, she was put under torture. Angelique said she set the fire but she didn't give away the names of any partners in crime.

Some people think she didn't set the fire. Others saw it as a brave attempt to escape slavery. But was she actually trying to rebel against slavery or just trying to avoid being set to the west Indies?!

and what about Claude Thibault?! Could he have had something to do with it too?!

For an awesome school assignment that we had, we had to make monologues about this case stating our opinion. We investigated lots of documents which were found on the Canadian mysteries website that I mentioned.

The position I chose to take was that she was one of Canada's first black heroes. I think she tried to rebel against slavery. My monologue sucks though. But if you want to read it here it is: Link to a monologue by me about Angelique .
